Today, Saturday, the Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia set the date for sighting the crescent of Shawwal for the current Hijri year, marking the end of the month of Ramadan and the beginning of the first day of Eid al-Fitr, according to the Saudi News Agency “SPA” quoting the court in its announcement.
In a statement, the Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia called on “all Muslims throughout the Kingdom to investigate the sighting of the crescent of Shawwal on Monday evening,” so that the beginning of the Eid would be on Tuesday if the crescent was sighted on Monday or Wednesday, if that did not happen.
The statement added: “The Supreme Court requests that anyone who sees it with the naked eye or through binoculars; Notify the nearest court to him, register his testimony to it, or contact the nearest center; To help him reach the nearest court.”
The Supreme Court affirmed that it “hopes that those who have the ability to see will pay attention to this matter, join the committees formed in the regions for this purpose, and calculate the reward and compensation for participating, because of the cooperation in righteousness and piety and the benefit to all Muslims,” according to the Saudi agency.
The center wrote on its account on the “X” website that the countries that began the month of Ramadan on Monday, March 11, will see the crescent on Monday, April 8, but seeing it on “that day is impossible because the moon sets before the sun and the conjunction occurs after sunset, and thus these countries will complete several months.” Ramadan is thirty days, with Wednesday, April 10 being Eid al-Fitr.
