Among them is a prominent element.. Iran arrests 3 ISIS members

Iranian police announced the arrest of a prominent ISIS member and two other members of the organization on charges of planning a suicide attack during Eid al-Fitr, which falls later this week.

Iranian media, citing police, reported that Muhammad Zakir, known as “Ramesh,” and the two other members were arrested in Karaj, west of the capital, Tehran, following clashes.

The police said that they also arrested 8 others who were with them.

ISIS claimed responsibility for two bombings in Iran in January that killed nearly 100 people and injured dozens during a memorial held to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the assassination of Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, who was killed in Iraq in an American drone attack in 2020.

Iran arrested 35 people in January, including a leader in the organization’s branch in Afghanistan (ISIS-Khorasan), who it said was linked to the two bombings that occurred on January 3 in the city of Kerman in the southeast of the country.
