The Money Changers Syndicate denounced the attack on the cashier in Jounieh!

The Syndicate of Money Changers in Lebanon expressed in a statement its “strong denunciation and rejection of the cowardly attack on the money changer Joseph Assaf on the evening of April 4, 2024 in the city of Jounieh.”

The union stressed that “the negative effects of these violent acts are not limited only to the damage caused to our colleague Joseph, but they are now affecting many legitimate money changers who are exposed to physical, moral and material harm, which is unacceptable in any way.”

The union regrets “the state of the country’s conditions in general and the legitimate money changer in particular, who is now exposed to financial and moral pressure, and is determined to adhere to the circulars and laws as an effective contribution to protecting Lebanon from being included on the gray list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

She concluded by demanding, “The security services, and we all trust them, to pursue the aggressors, and stop those who practice the profession without a license, which exposes our country, Lebanon, and all its official and private institutions, to damage of undesirable consequences.”
