The New York Times decides to review the contract of an Israeli journalist…and why?

The contract of an American-Israeli journalist named Anat Schwartz is being reviewed and evaluated by the American newspaper “The New York Times.” Because of her biased stance toward Israel and her liking for social media posts that support the extermination of the Palestinian people.

This came after an article was published last December in the internationally circulated New York Times entitled “Cries Without Words,” co-written by Schwartz, in which it supported Tel Aviv’s allegations that Israeli children were killed by Hamas fighters and that they used sexual violence as a weapon.

We welcome the decision
The decision to review Schwartz’s contract was widely welcomed by American writers and journalists, but some of them attributed the reason to the fact that the decision may have come to protect officials at higher levels in the New York Times after the repercussions of publishing the false report on sexual violence.

At the beginning of its aggression against Gaza on October 7, Tel Aviv largely based its justification for its devastating war on the besieged Strip on allegations that Hamas members had beheaded Israeli children and burned their bodies, as well as raping Israeli women in Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
Although these allegations were denied by more than one party after that, including official bodies such as the White House and other media outlets such as the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, some international media outlets took these allegations seriously and published reports and investigations about them, as happened with the American newspaper The New York Times.

The scandal deepens
Commenting on the decision to review the contract of journalist Anat Schwartz, the well-known American journalist Max Blumenthal commented by saying: “The New York Times fired Anat Schwartz because of these publications to protect the reputation of the report’s main author, Jeffrey Gettleman, and in order to avoid the complete retraction of a report that was completely refuted.”
He added in a tweet on the “X” platform: “The Times scandal is deepening.”
