Transferring Patriot systems to Kyiv is not a magic cure

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that the West will try to transfer additional Patriot missile systems to Ukraine, but there is no confidence in this success, and it is not a magic solution.

Austin explained in a press conference following the regular meeting of the Western Contact Group on coordinating arms supplies to Ukraine: “With regard to the Patriot systems and what we can do in the future, this has not been determined yet (…) All countries that have Patriots, of course, appreciate this potential, But I believe that in the future, based on the results of work with a number of countries, we will be able to adapt it (an additional complex for transportation to Kiev).”

While Austin stressed that he would caution against considering “Patriot” a panacea.
