The Iranian Revolutionary Guard crosses the equator for the first time. Here are the details

During its mission, the “Mahdavi” ship of the Revolutionary Guard Navy, which is equipped with long-range ballistic missiles and cruise missiles, crossed the equator and entered the southern hemisphere, according to the “Tasnim” International News Agency.

This is the first long-range naval mission of the Revolutionary Guard in terms of distance and type of mission.

The ship, which was added to the Revolutionary Guard Navy in March 2023, weighs more than 2,100 tons, and is 240 meters long and 27 meters wide.

This ship possesses a variety of advanced radars, such as three-dimensional radar, surface-to-ground and surface-to-air missile systems, the “Sum Khordad” system and other advanced communications systems.

According to the Navy Commander of the Revolutionary Guards, Ali Reza Tangsiri, in addition to long-range ballistic missiles, 2,000-kilometre-long cruise missiles named “Qadr 474” were also installed on this ship.

Tangsiri considered that the most important mission of the Revolutionary Guard Navy in distant waters is “to establish and maintain maritime sovereignty and ensure the security of shipping lines.”
