Hotels are threatened with closure… and summer is the last chance

After the head of the Federation of Tourism Syndicates and the head of the National Tourism Council, Pierre Achcar, issued a call to stop the fighting in southern Lebanon, so that hotels would not be closed, a tourism source said that the hotel sector was suffering greatly due to the security situation, and while the tourist establishments in the mountainous areas were visited by citizens and expatriates in the winter, To practice the hobby of skiing, the number of visitors has now decreased, while hotels in the cities and on the coast are almost closed, because they are empty of customers.

The tourism source added that the battles in the south, and their expansion into the Lebanese interior, greatly affected travel and hotel reservations, and pointed out that the summer season, which brings with it the launch of music festivals in various regions, is the last opportunity to save what remains of the tourist season.
The source warned that if the war extends for a longer period, expatriates and tourists will not come to Lebanon, the remaining hotels will be closed, and thousands of citizens will lose their jobs.
