Thwarting an attempt to smuggle 148 kilograms of hashish abroad. This is how it was seized before being transported to the airport!


The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement:

As a result of the continuous follow-up carried out by the specialized units of the Internal Security Forces to limit drug smuggling operations, to and from Lebanon, which are planned and carried out by international networks, confirmed data was available to the Information Division about one of these networks preparing for an operation to smuggle a quantity of hashish inside a shipment. From bags of thyme, sumac, and kishk, to a European country, via Beirut International Airport.

Immediately, the specialized units in the division began their informational and technical procedures to uncover the members of the aforementioned network, determine the location of the shipment and seize it before transporting it to the airport. As a result of diligent surveys and investigations carried out by patrols from the division, they were able to identify the warehouse, in the capital, Beirut, where the shipment was hidden.

On the same date, one of the division’s patrols carried out a raid on the warehouse, and seized about 148 kilograms of hashish, hidden in bags of thyme.

The quantity of drugs was seized, and work is continuing to arrest members of the smuggling network and those involved in this operation, under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
