Here are the latest developments in the Baltimore bridge collapse

US authorities said six people were likely killed when part of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed after a huge ship collided with it, and searches for them were suspended until Wednesday morning.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore revealed that the ship’s crew sent a distress call moments before the bridge collapsed, enabling authorities to limit vehicular traffic on the bridge.

He added: “Although the ship was heading towards the bridge at a very high speed, the authorities had enough time to prevent cars from going up the bridge. These people are heroes. They saved lives last night.”
