A joint operations room in Cairo regarding the Gaza agreement
The source stated, “The chamber includes representatives from Egypt, Palestine, Qatar, the United States, and Israel, to ensure effective coordination and follow up on compliance with the terms of the agreement.”
He confirmed that the Cairo meeting on implementing the agreement had ended “amid a positive atmosphere.”
Earlier on Friday, Egypt and Qatar stressed the importance of implementing the ceasefire agreement and the exchange of hostages and prisoners between Israel and Hamas without delay.
This came in a phone call received by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati from Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
In conjunction with this, the entire Israeli government met on Friday evening to discuss the terms of the agreement, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that an agreement had been reached that would stop the 15-month-long war with Hamas and release dozens of hostages.
The Security Council recommended approval of the agreement earlier on Friday, and the full Council of Ministers is expected to approve the ceasefire, which is likely to begin on Sunday.
The agreement has faced fierce resistance from Netanyahu’s far-right coalition partners, whose objections could destabilize his government. (Sky News)
