Weapons must be in the hands of the Lebanese state alone
French President Emmanuel Macron announced, from the Pine Palace, that he is “confident that the coming days will bring the formation of an effective Lebanese government, and we have struggled diplomatically to achieve a ceasefire in Lebanon,” and said: “We are committed to remaining by Lebanon’s side and helping President Joseph Aoun succeed because What it embodies is necessary, as it constitutes a new path and a new era.”
He pointed out that “weapons must be in the hands of the Lebanese state alone, and France will support the Lebanese army in order to extend its authority,” stressing that “the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon must happen, and Lebanon must control the borders through the Lebanese army.”
He also announced that “Air France will soon reorganize its flights to and from Lebanon.”
He said: “We have not forgotten any face of the victims of August 4, and we are here to celebrate with you the new page in Lebanon.”
He stressed that “Lebanon will be sovereign, united and prosperous, and we will not back down from supporting it.”
