The real, authentic Lebanon has returned
President Joseph Aoun said during a joint press conference with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, “I hope you will bear witness to the whole world that the Lebanese people’s confidence in their country and their state has returned and that the world’s confidence in Lebanon must be fully restored because the true, authentic Lebanon has returned.”
Aoun added: In the heart of every Lebanese, in his mind and conscience, in his daily language, in his living history, and in his creative culture, there is much from France.
For his part, Macron said that France has stood by the Lebanese during the past four years.
Macron addressed President Aoun by saying: You have ended the political vacuum that Lebanon witnessed and you are putting the country on the path to recovery.
He stressed that France renews its commitment to the Lebanese to make the new political arrangements a success.
He said: We will continue to work on training the army and security forces and strengthening the work of UNIFIL to carry out its tasks.
Macron pointed out that so far, two-thirds of the grants have been paid out of the 800 million euros allocated to Lebanon.
Macron stressed the need to implement reforms at the judicial and banking levels.
