In response to a question about the possibility of Netanyahu overturning the ceasefire agreement in Gaza?
Al-Safadi replied: “There was an agreement yesterday and this came strictly and clearly from the negotiators from the Arab Republic of Egypt, the sisterly State of Qatar, the United States of America, and the whole world realizes the importance of respecting this agreement and implementing it, because the alternative is to continue this disaster that led to the complete destruction of Gaza and the situation of the region.” “On the verge of explosion.”
He continued: “We welcome this agreement, and call for adherence to and implementation of it. We also call for the opening of all crossings and the international community’s solidarity in order to bring immediate and sufficient humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, which is suffering from an unprecedented humanitarian tragedy. Everyone must adhere to what was agreed upon.”
He added: “A ceasefire is a regional interest and an international necessity for security and stability. Therefore, we stress the necessity of adhering to what was agreed upon and proceeding with the implementation of all the provisions of the agreement that was concluded, and then progressing within the framework of regional and international action in order to find a political horizon for resolving the conflict on the basis of meeting the rights of the Palestinian people within the framework of their state.” It has sovereignty over its national territory. Otherwise, the region will remain captive to the conflict, and this conflict will affect everyone.”
He said: “Our entire region is witnessing signs of breakthroughs. In Lebanon, the election of a president of the republic, and before that, a ceasefire was reached. Now a new president has been appointed to form the government. There is a large area of justified hope, and also in Syria we have seen change as well, and there is regional and international support for Syria to rebuild itself on the basis of The foundations that restore its security and stability and preserve the rights of all its components and citizens, and a ceasefire in Gaza after more than a year of devastating war. I believe that there is a regional and international necessity and demand that must Commitment to it until we move towards real horizons to fulfill the right of the Palestinian people as a condition for achieving the just and comprehensive peace that we all want.”
