After it was evacuated yesterday.. What’s new about the building in danger of collapsing in Al-Tabbaneh?
Since the morning, the road adjacent to the building has been completely blocked as a precautionary measure, while municipal police, emergency and security forces teams headed to the place to ensure the safety of the residents and coordinate the evacuation process.
The Tripoli Municipality’s engineering teams, along with volunteer engineers, also went to the site to assess the building’s condition, while the residents appealed to the concerned authorities to take urgent measures to protect them and address the problem in order to avoid a disaster.
After Yamq made a series of communications to remedy the crisis and find quick solutions, he said: Once again we raise our voice, following the martyrdom of two rescuers in the collapse of the Al-Zaila building in Al-Mina, may God have mercy on them. We said at the time that there are many buildings in Tripoli that are at risk of falling and collapsing, and this building in Al-Tabbaneh is a picture. For the truth of what we talked about, it is in danger of falling.
He continued: Yesterday, we were told that the residents heard a crack in the building’s foundations, and we immediately sent the municipal police, in the presence of civil defense and security forces, as they found repercussions in the building’s shelter, with an amount of water submerging its floor.
He added: We communicated with the Higher Relief Commission and with the Secretary General of the North Governorate, District Attorney Iman Al-Rafii, and a temporary shelter allowance was secured for the residents. Today, an engineering inspection was carried out by Tripoli Municipality engineers and volunteer engineers to submit a detailed report. We are continuing our communication with the North Lebanon Water Corporation and the Sewage Department to remedy the situation. The matter will be removed from the water damage in the shelter, and we will work on developing a study to evaluate the situation, in general, in terms of the possibility of the building’s resistance or collapse, God forbid.
