Doubts still surround the future of Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo with Barcelona, amid reports confirming that he is close to moving to Juventus.

However, the Catalan club denies knowledge of any official negotiations, expressing its surprise at the repeated news coming from Italy.

According to Italian media, Juventus has reached a preliminary agreement with Araujo, whose contract expires in the summer of 2026, to move on loan in January with a mandatory purchase option next summer.

Reports indicate that the Italian club is ready to bear the player’s full salary. But Barcelona refuses to ratify this news without official notification from the player or the club.

Barcelona is suffering from financial challenges that force it to adhere to the 1:1 rule in salaries, which has complicated negotiations to renew Araujo’s contract.

Despite the club’s interest in keeping him, strong alternatives such as Cobarci and Iñigo Martinez give him flexibility in the event of an unexpected departure.

Reports also suggest that German defender Jonathan Tah could be a future target to bolster the defence.

The player who captained the team in the last cup match will not be allowed to leave for free, making any upcoming move linked to financial gains befitting his value.
