13 Cuban soldiers were missing after explosions rocked an ammunition depot
The Armed Forces of Cuba said that 13 soldiers were missing after explosions at a weapons and ammunition depot in the eastern province of Olguin.
Explosions rocked the small rural town of Melones, located 724 kilometers southeast of Havana, yesterday morning. Officials had previously said that the explosions were caused by a fire at a construction site.
Authorities said the incident is still under investigation.
The Cuban army stated that among the missing were four officers and nine soldiers. Officials previously announced that 361 people had been evacuated to a safe location following the explosions.
