25 killed in a Rapid Support attack on a village in South Sudan

Sudanese activists reported that more than 25 people were killed and dozens injured in an attack launched by the Rapid Support Forces on a village in the White Nile State in the south of the country, while the Sudanese delegate to the United Nations denied the spread of famine in 5 regions of the country.

The Nidaa Al-Wasat group, run by Sudanese activists, reported that the Rapid Support Forces committed a bloody massacre today against the people of the village of “Um Kweika”, east of the city of Al-Jabalin in the White Nile State.

The group explained in a statement yesterday, Monday, that the Rapid Support Forces attacked the village and directed their fire at the citizens, targeting them directly, which led to the killing of more than 25 people and the injury of dozens.

The statement indicated that the village includes a large number of displaced people from the state of Sennar, southeast of the country, who took refuge there after the Rapid Support Forces attacked them.

There has been no comment yet from the Rapid Support Forces regarding the attack on the village.

The Sudanese army regained the city of Sinja, the capital of Sennar State, on February 23, 2024, after the Rapid Support Forces took control of it in June of the same year.

In a related context, the United Nations said that hunger is spreading in Sudan because of the decisions taken to continue the war, regardless of the cost to civilians.
