The investigation team requests a warrant for the arrest of the President of South Korea

The Joint Investigation Team into the martial law case announced that it has resubmitted an arrest warrant request for President Yoon Seok-yul to extend the deadline for his detention in order to question him about his role in briefly imposing martial law early last month.

The South Korean Yonhap News Agency stated that the joint investigation team between the police, the Corruption Investigation Bureau for Senior Officials, and the Investigation Unit of the Ministry of Defense is seeking to question Yoon as a suspect on charges of rebellion and abuse of power, in connection with the imposition of martial law on December 3.

The Bureau of Investigation into Senior Officials Corruption also confirmed, “We have again submitted an arrest warrant request to the Seoul West District Court to extend the deadline for President Yoon’s arrest warrant.”
