Afraid of Biden’s reaction.. Israel wants to remain in southern Lebanon indefinitely
The channel explained that Israel fears the reaction of President Joe Biden’s administration, especially the scenario in which Washington will allow an anti-Israel resolution to be passed in the UN Security Council in response to the Israeli army remaining in Lebanon.
The channel added that Israel wants the Israeli army to remain in several points outside the northern borders indefinitely.
She explained that Israel has room to rely on violations by the Lebanese state and Hezbollah to avoid the withdrawal clause in the agreement.
She indicated that, according to optimistic estimates, and unlike President Biden, President-elect Donald Trump will be more flexible on the issue of withdrawal from Lebanon.
She confirmed that the ceasefire agreement monitoring mechanism, headed by US General Jasper Jeffers, is supposed to receive reports from Israel about Hezbollah’s violations of the agreement and refer them to the Lebanese army and ensure that the matter is addressed, but the rate of dealing with violations does not satisfy Israel.
