Lebanon is on the cusp of a major change

Member of the “Strong Republic” bloc, MP Ziad Al-Hawat, confirmed that “Lebanon is on the verge of a major phase of change,” noting that “the signs of this change appeared through the President’s oath of office speech.”

Al-Hawat explained in an interview with Sputnik Radio that, “In order to keep pace with this change, the president-designate must be competent and win the consensus of the largest number of representatives to be a partner in running the country.”

He added, “The bloc is converging with many change leaders and other representatives around the name of Judge Nawaf Salam, which they consider to be an advanced opportunity, while emphasizing the necessity of communicating with all political blocs.”

Regarding the next government, Al-Hawat stressed that the “strong republic” will participate in any government, stressing that “the bloc will be an active partner in Parliament, even if the prime minister is not named by it.”

He pointed out that “the “Strong Republic” bloc will monitor the government’s work from within to ensure that the country is returned to its correct path.” He also considered that “talking about distributing ministerial portfolios at this stage is ‘early’ and the issue of assignment must first be resolved.”

He sent a message to the representatives, stressing that “there is a great responsibility on them in determining the assignment, especially in light of the changes taking place in the internal and external arenas.” He stressed that “the assignment is still under discussion,” noting that “his information indicates that Prime Minister Najib Mikati has a major role in the next stage.”

He announced that the “Strong Republic” bloc provided all possible facilities to reach a name that everyone agreed upon,” stressing that “they will be part of the next government and will continue to work within the Council of Ministers to ensure the launch of the “Covenant and Reform Government” in Lebanon.”
