As Trump’s presidency approaches… European defense ministers discuss security
The defense ministers of Poland, Germany, France, Italy and Britain are scheduled to meet in Warsaw later on Monday to discuss European security issues within the framework of a new 5-party coordination established after Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential elections.
European allies are seeking to improve European security and preparedness to address conflicts in response to Trump’s continued weakening of US reliability in NATO.
It is unclear whether or to what extent the United States will continue to provide military support to Ukraine under Trump’s leadership.
With one week remaining until Trump’s inauguration on January 20, European defense ministers also want to discuss providing more aid to Ukraine.
It will also be interesting to see how ministers react to Trump’s recent claims to Greenland, which belongs to Denmark, and his ambitions to annex Canada, a NATO ally. (Sky News)
