Biden will deliver a farewell address to the nation on Wednesday
The White House said that US President Joe Biden will deliver a televised farewell speech on Wednesday, five days before Donald Trump returns to power.
A White House statement said on Friday: “On Wednesday, January 15, at 8 p.m., the President will deliver a farewell address to the nation from the Oval Office.”
On Monday, the US Congress certified Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential elections, paving the way for the Republican’s return to the White House and his official inauguration 10 days later.
The authentication was completed in just half an hour.
Trump will officially assume his duties on January 20, after the official inauguration ceremony, which takes place in Washington, DC.
