We hope that this project will be a gift to the Lebanese

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director General of the Housing Bank, Antoine Habib, accompanied by Salah Salam, visited the Caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Bassam Mawlawi, to congratulate him on the new year.

Habib said after the meeting: “It was an occasion in which Minister Mawlawi briefed us on the activity of the Housing Bank, including granting housing loans for purchase and renovation to people with limited and medium incomes. We also presented to him the stages of our grateful receipt of the loan from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, and our ambition to obtain a loan from the Abu Dhabi Fund and other loans.” From Qatar, whose ambassador we will visit in Beirut next week.”

He added: “Minister Mawlawi also informed us of our proposal to reopen Bank Street in Beirut, especially after the election of the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, after two years and two months of the presidential vacancy, as we hope that this project will be a gift to the Lebanese people and a glimmer of hope with the new era, given the vital role it plays.” The Bank Street in Beirut plays a role in the commercial and economic movement in the capital, as it is the main headquarters of the Housing Bank, along with official headquarters, public administrations, and many private institutions. It is also the strategic location that connects… The streets of Beirut are connected to each other.”

He hoped that “House Speaker Nabih Berri will graciously respond to our proposal to reopen Bank Street in Beirut, as it is the demand of the Lebanese people who hope that their country will take the initiative to take a decision in this regard.”

Habib concluded: “Minister Mawlawi has expressed his full response to this project, and he promised us to follow up on this proposal and support it after we have signed a petition in this regard to hand it over to the competent Lebanese authorities in preparation for reopening Bank Street in Beirut, noting that for this purpose we visited both the Governor of Beirut and the President of Lebanon.” The Municipality of Beirut and the General Director of Solidere who expressed all support for this project. The Minister also wished us every success in this project, as it will be the first step in the process of opening all the streets of Lebanon to each other.”
