The Israeli army announces the destruction of weapons and infrastructure of the Syrian army
The Israeli army said in a statement, “The forces of the 474th Golan Brigade are carrying out frontal defensive operations to provide security for the residents of the State of Israel and the Golan Heights specifically.”
Spokesman Avichai Adraee said, “The armored, engineering, and infantry forces are continuing combing operations in the areas and areas under their control, where the forces are confiscating and destroying combat means and infrastructure belonging to the Syrian army.”
He added, “During one of the combing operations, an armored personnel carrier was found that contained many weapons, anti-armor missiles, and explosive devices.
All means were confiscated and destroyed to prevent them from reaching hostile parties and targeting IDF forces and the citizens of the Golan Heights,” he said.
Syrian media reported that Israeli forces carried out a new incursion into the southern countryside of Quneitra on Wednesday, where they began inspections of farms, accompanied by military vehicles that bulldozed agricultural lands.
“Syria TV” reported, “This morning, the occupation army entered a convoy of tanks into the towns of Al-Asha, Abu Ghara, Mazra’at Al-Hiran, and the tank company in the southern countryside of Quneitra, where it carried out inspections and bulldozing of lands.”
According to what “Syria TV” reported, “A few days ago, the Israeli occupation army took control of the Mantara Water Dam in the countryside of Quneitra Governorate, as part of a new incursion into Syrian territory.”
It is worth mentioning that following the fall of the Assad regime, the Israeli army intensified its operations inside Syrian territory adjacent to the buffer zone in the Golan, and about two weeks ago, the forces penetrated the Syrian side of Mount Hermon, announcing control of an abandoned military site, where this step was described as “a measure “Temporary security” until new arrangements are reached.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier that the Golan Heights will forever remain “an integral part of Israel.”
Netanyahu noted that the disengagement agreement with Syria in the Golan Heights, which was reached shortly after the 1973 war, had ended with the Syrian army abandoning its positions.
Netanyahu’s office explained that “the deployment of Israeli forces in the buffer zone is temporary, until forces committed to the 1974 agreement are formed and security on our borders is guaranteed.” (Sky News)
