Investigators arrive at the residence of the President of South Korea to arrest him
A team of investigators arrived on Friday morning at the residence of deposed South Korean President Yoon Seok-yul in central Seoul in an attempt to arrest him in implementation of a warrant issued by the judiciary against him.
Agence France-Presse reported that a crowd of President Yoon’s supporters gathered in front of his residence to protect him.
Cars belonging to the Office of Investigation into corruption cases against which senior figures were accused headed to the presidential residence located in the center of the capital, around which large numbers of police officers were deployed, in order to arrest Yoon, who is being prosecuted on charges of “rebellion” after his attempt to impose martial law in the country a month ago failed.
The Corruption Investigations Office has not yet issued confirmation of the number of investigators sent.
