The development of Bekaa requires the restoration of the prestige of the state and the organization of crossings

Representative Yassin Yassin pointed out in a press conference held in the House of Representatives, that in his meeting with the representatives of the Bekaa, Baalbek and the Hermel region, he expressed his intervention from three interconnected starting points aimed at clarifying several issues. First, he pointed to the importance of the national and political premises, as the Bekaa cannot be spoken in isolation from the general national framework in which we move, and it is reflected directly on the lives of citizens. He emphasized two basic points, the first is the interest of people, which comes first and foremost. The citizen in the Bekaa, as in all parts of Lebanon, suffers from a suffocating economic crisis, lack of services, the absence of justice, and the feeling of lethality from the state. He stressed that the interest of people is not just a slogan, but rather a priority that must be embodied in clear policies, projects, legislation and fixed numbers in the general budget. He also called for re -consideration of people as a source of legitimacy and decision. The citizens are not just electoral numbers, but rather they have the right to make decisions and accountability.

As for the second point, it is the activation of state institutions, as its absence leads to chaos. Yassin explained that when the state is absent, the same categories impose the power of the de facto instead of the force of law. He said that it is not possible to preserve Lebanon without restoring the prestige of the state, by implementing the constitution without discretion, respecting legal mechanisms, and stopping the individualization of the decision under any political or sectarian pretexts.

He pointed out that in its parliamentary position, there are three priorities represented in linking the parliamentary work to the department’s speech and the ministerial statement, activating the judiciary, achieving rotation, as well as balanced development. He added that the rights of depositors are obligations, not promises, and the reproduction must be prohibited in applying the laws, because the law should not be a tool for revenge or settling accounts, but rather it must be applied to everyone without discrimination. He called for linking the power of the state to the effectiveness of its institutions, stressing that institutions are not decorative or quota tools, but rather they must be managed independently, professional and completely subject to control and accountability.

Regarding the needs of the chronic Bekaa, Yassin said that the Bekaa is not only an agricultural or border area, but it is a productive national reservoir and has the full right to development justice. He stressed that the urgent priorities of the Bekaa include several aspects, the first of which is the infrastructure, as roads, water, sanitation and electricity networks are essential and development cannot be achieved without it. He also pointed out the need for a clear agricultural policy that supports farmers and prevents the collapse of the agricultural sector.

As for crossings and borders, Yassin emphasized that chaos on the borders weakens sovereignty and harms the economy, and the crossings must be organized and developed under the authority of the state. With regard to the environment and health, he pointed out that pollution, waste and water pollution threaten people’s lives, and stressed that government interference in this field has become a necessity.

He continued that it is necessary to invest in education and public services, especially since the absence of public schools and active government hospitals deepens internal and external migration. He stressed that investing in humans is a priority.

In the fields of energy and communications, Yassin said that talking about development cannot take place without electricity and the Internet, as the digital infrastructure is essential to support the economy and education.

At the end of his speech, Yassin stressed that the current stage does not tolerate bidding, as the Bekaa needs a practical coordination path between his deputies based on a clear road map, and an actual partnership with people. He stressed that the true force of any deputy measured in his sincerity with his people, with his position on state institutions, and his ability to defend the principles, not sites.
