Israel’s decision to stop supplying Gaza with gas is cheap

After Israeli Energy Minister Elie Cohen instructed to stop the supply of Gaza with electricity, Hamas accused Israel of practicing “cheap and rejected blackmail.”

“We strongly condemn the occupation decision to cut electricity from Gaza after deprived it of food, medicine and water,” he said, saying that it is a “desperate attempt to pressure a people and resist it through the policy of cheap and rejected blackmail,” according to the French News Agency.

The Israeli minister had announced in a video clip: “I just signed an order to stop the supply of the Gaza Strip with electricity immediately,” adding: “We will use all the tools available to us to restore the hostages and ensure that there is no enthusiasm in Gaza the next day of the war.

This comes after Israel announced, last Sunday, that it had stopped entering the goods into Gaza, noting a dispute with Hamas on how to proceed with the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, which is supported by the United States and led to the cessation of the fighting in January 2025.

The Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Saar, accuses Hamas of using “aid to continue fighting with Israel.”

Israel also claims that Gaza has enough food for several months.

But humanitarian relief agencies say that food, medicine and shelter supplies in Gaza are limited, and that suspended aid may spoil.

While Hamas urged the mediators to pressure Israel to start talks about the second stage and reopen the crossings with Gaza.
