For presidential elections … talks between Trump’s allies and Zelinski opponents

Characters close to US President Donald Trump held discussions with a number of the largest political opponents of Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski, a report of the American newspaper “Politico” said on Wednesday.

The move comes after the violent verbal altercation between Trump and Zelinski at the White House last week, which was publicly and reported by the media and sparked global controversy.

The report quoted 3 Ukrainian deputies and foreign policy expert from the US Republican Party, that the talks took place with the Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Timoshenko, and senior members of former President Petro Poroshenko.

The report stated that the discussions focused on whether Ukraine could hold presidential elections quickly.

These elections were delayed in accordance with the constitution of Ukraine, which are still under the martial law, and critics say that it may be chaotic and in the interest of Russia, because large numbers of potential voters serve in the front lines of the army or live outside the country as refugees.

Trump’s assistants trust that Zellinski will lose any elections, due to the length of the war with Russia and general frustration over the outbreak of corruption in Ukraine.

Zelinski’s evaluations in opinion polls were declining for years, although they had been reviving in the wake of the argument with Trump in the Oval Office, when the Ukrainian president was expelled after he was reprimanded by his American counterpart and his deputy JD Fans. (Sky News)
