On prices .. a statement from the Minister of Economy

The Minister of Economy and Trade, Amer Bastat, announced that “the Consumer Protection Directorate has intensified its regulatory tours on the shops, food warehouses, and vegetable and fruit markets, since the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan and the large fasting time, based on the recommendations issued to control markets and protect consumer rights.”


The Basta stressed, “The organization of the records of seizure against violators, as violations varied between an unjustified rise in prices and the lack of food safety conditions, in addition to controlling expired materials. The Ministry referred 31 seized records to the competent judiciary to take appropriate legal measures against the violators.

Batat stressed that “the ministry will continue to intensify its control tours … to be alongside citizens and consumers in the face of any illegal exploitation.”

Bsut also announced that it will soon be presented to the Council of Ministers, “the file of the formation of the Competition Authority to combat monopoly and protect the national economy.”

The Minister of Economy called on citizens to contribute to controlling the market by reporting any violation or exploitation they are subjected to, by submitting complaints directly to the ministry through the electronic application “Moet Digital Services” available on smartphones.

The minister concluded his warning to “everyone who dares to double his profits in illegal ways,” stressing that “the Consumer Protection Directorate will continue to prosecute the violators and take legal measures against them.”
