To improve the production of Lebanese potatoes .. This is what the Bekaa witnessed

Acting Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani, and Acting Food and Agriculture Actress (FAO) in Lebanon, Veronika Quattola, participated today, in the process of distributing 166 tons of potato seeds to 415 farmers in the Bekaa and Baalbek -Hermel regions, as part of the ongoing efforts to support the agricultural sector and enhance food security in Lebanon.

This initiative comes, according to a statement, “within the agricultural support programs aimed at helping farmers to recover from the economic and environmental crises that affected the agricultural sector, and to ensure the sustainability of local production, which contributes to enhancing food security and achieving agricultural stability in Lebanon.”


The distribution process aims to “support small farmers and improve potato production, and it is one of the basic crops on which the Lebanese agricultural economy depends.

Through this assistance, the “FAO” and the Ministry of Agriculture seek to enhance the ability of farmers to face challenges and achieve sustainable productivity, which contributes to providing food for local markets and improving livelihoods for farmers and their families.

Hani stressed that “agriculture is an essential pillar in the Lebanese economy, and the support of farmers today is an investment in the future of the country’s food security.”

In turn, Veronica Cattarola stressed the importance of this project, saying: “Al -Faw is committed to supporting Lebanese farmers by providing basic agricultural inputs, as part of its efforts to ensure food security and enhance the productive capacity in the country, and this support comes within the framework of continuous cooperation between the FAO and the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture, with the aim of finding sustainable solutions to the agricultural sector, achieving balanced rural development, and securing a more stable future For farmers in Lebanon. ”
