Italy allocates humanitarian aid to Syria worth 4.5 million euros

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the allocation of 4.5 million euros as urgent assistance in the context of humanitarian efforts directed to Syria.

In a statement, on Tuesday, the ministry touched on the visit of Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani to Damascus last January, and that he had conversations with officials of the new Syrian administration.

The statement added that in the context of the humanitarian aid announced by Tajani during his visit to Syria, 4.5 million euros were allocated to urgent relief initiatives.

He explained that this aid will be directed to the most urgent and priority fields in Syria, with the aim of supporting humanitarian activities in the health sector and hospitals, and improving vital infrastructure.

He pointed out that this initiative comes in addition to the first shipment of humanitarian aid, which was launched from the United Nations Humanitarian Response warehouse in the Italian city of Brendizi, at the end of last January, which included medicines and medical supplies, and is currently in the distribution stage.
