China has banned the import of the genetic sequence analysis equipment produced by the company “Illumina”, as part of a series of punitive measures in response to the new customs duties imposed by the United States on all Chinese goods, exacerbating the crises facing the American company in one of its largest markets.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Trade in Beijing announced the prohibition that entered into force, to become the most clear restriction against the company. “Elumina” said in a statement that it is working to evaluate the ministry’s decision, confirming its commitment to continuing to provide its services to its current customers in China.

The company also expressed its appreciation for the long -term support provided by the Chinese government to foreign investors. (Bloomberg)
