Halevi: The party almost reached Haifa

Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi indicated that “Hezbollah, if he attacked Israel on October 7, would have reached the city of Haifa,” according to the Israeli “Channel 12”.

He pointed out in a statement, that “Hezbollah had the ability to launch a large -scale attack on several fronts on that day, which would have been a major threat to Israeli internal security.”

“Despite the strength and willingness of the Israeli army at the time, the scenario that the army was facing in the event of the attack by Hezbollah would have put Israel in a very difficult position,” Halevi said.

He believed that “an extensive attack by Hezbollah could have led to strategic effects on the security of northern Israel,” noting the importance of preparing for the upcoming threats.

In addition, Halevy stressed, during a dialogue session with the army leaders, that the recognition of military failures is a basic necessity for learning and development, pointing to the importance of confronting errors instead of ignoring them.

He explained that the Israeli army cannot repeat the same mistake, stressing the importance of accountability and transparency in extracting the lessons from the events of October 7, 2023.

He pointed out that some of the leaders who participated in the investigations confessed to their mistakes in a trembling voice, stressing that this recognition is necessary not only to learn, but also to support mental health for those who bear the responsibility of driving in crucial moments.
