The challenges are very large, but we will be next to the President of the Republic

The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, met with the former president of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, in Baabda Palace.

After the meeting ended, Jumblatt said: “We hope for good for stability, reform and challenges, but we will be next to the President of the Republic, and we must face challenges without forgetting the dangers surrounding us, especially the Israeli occupation in the south.”

He added: “Reforms and weapons must be part of the Taif Agreement and from the basic items in the department’s discourse, the armistice agreement, and there will be pressure on Lebanon to change the armistice agreement, but I recommend adhering to it.”

He continued, “The Israeli project is to divide Syria and I am very concerned and the national forces in all of Syria stand up to this.”

He said: “The Zionist danger is expanding and destroying, and the Arabs cannot remain in their back trenches and protect Arab national security starts from Lebanon, Syria and Jordan.”
