Lebanon includes Gaza and Syria .. Details of the latest Israeli defense strategy

The Israeli newspaper “Yediot Aharonot” reported that Israel adopts a new three -border border defense strategy that includes Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.

A newspaper report says that the new strategy was first as a result of the lessons learned from the failure of the October 7, 2023 attack, and the aim of which was to provide security for the population of border settlements in southern and northern Israel in addition to the settlements bordering Syria.

The report explained that “the strategy distinguishes between the borders with the countries that Israel has peace with, that is, Egypt and Jordan, and the borders that have a direct threat and an active threat to the citizens of Israel.”

The report stated that “on the borders that are still witnessing an active or semi -active war, that is, on the borders of the Gaza Strip, on the border with Lebanon, and on the Golan Heights, there will be a three -layer land defense system.” He added: “The first defensive system will be within Israeli territory. And it will include permanent settlement sites, a wild obstacle, including fence and/or wall, and various border monitoring devices, as well as a system of roads Fast traffic, reserve forces, air defense and artillery components.

He continued: “This group of settlement foci and barriers will work on the actual separation between border settlements and Lebanese villages and the potential centers of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.”

He continued: “In the Gaza Strip, there will be a system with similar characteristics, working to block the road between the lands of the Strip and the settlements surrounding Gaza, but instead of the camps for the forces on the border, there will be real military sites that are created to provide protection for its surroundings and fight everyone who tries to storm it – Even without any intelligence warning. ”

He continued: “As for the second defensive system in each of these three sectors, it will be inside the enemy’s lands, and it will form a layer of front defense, which was existing in the security zone inside Lebanon from 1984 until the withdrawal of the Israeli army from Lebanon in 2000.”

He continued: “As for the Gaza Strip, it is assumed that there will be the presence of the Israeli army, in one way or another, in the security ocean (the buffer zone) located inside the lands of the Strip. The depth of this buffer zone and the way the Israeli army is in it, which aims to prevent Palestinians from approaching the fence, is still unclear, and this is up to negotiations in the second stage of the current hostage deal, and it will be mainly related to negotiations on security arrangements in the security ocean The front defense area. But Israel has already made it clear that it would demand the right to work in this security environment – whether it is in the form of permanent presence, or through wild patrols, air patrols, etc.

He added: “On the Lebanese border, the front defense process is currently taking place through 5 advanced points along the border located in areas under control. However, Israel says it will withdraw from these points if southern Lebanon stops being a threat to Israeli territory.

He said: “In the Golan Heights, the Israeli army forces that entered the buffer zone formed and prepared to stay long there, the front defense line of the Golan Heights societies.”

And he added: “The buffer zone has been identified as an area free of any military, Israeli or Syrian presence, east of the border with Israel, and it is intended to operate as a wild geographical buffer zone.”
