Netanyahu: “We are committed to the protection of the Druze” … and a wide Druze denunciation of his words!

Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is barely ending his statements about southern Syria until calls for condemnation were subjected.

The commander of the Ahrar Al -Jabal Al -Arab in As -Suwayda, Suleiman Abdel Baqi, confirmed yesterday evening, Sunday, that he refuses any interference in the internal affairs of the Syrians by any external party.

He stressed that the demands of the Druze in Syria are as the demands of all Syrians, namely peace and state building.

While calls by several groups spread on social media to demonstrate today, Monday, in the governorates of Daraa, Quneitra and As -Suwayda in southern Syria, in protest against Netanyahu’s statements.

He pointed to the launch of popular protests in the Khan Arnaba roundabout in Quneitra and Daraa, as well as the Karama Square in As -Suwayda.

This came after the Israeli Prime Minister demanded, yesterday, to completely evacuate southern Syria from the military forces of the new regime. He said: “We will not allow the forces of the Headquarters for the Liberation of Al -Sham or the new Syrian army to enter the areas south of Damascus.”

He also stressed that Israel is “committed to protecting the Druze in southern Syria and will not tolerate any threat to them,” as he put it.

It also came amid reports that the Israeli army brought some temptations to the residents of the areas where it has penetrated since last December in southern Syria.

It is noteworthy that since the fall of the regime of former Syrian President Bashar al -Assad on the eighth of December, the Israeli army announced that it had taken locations in the buffer zone (more than 10 sites) in the occupied Golan Heights, which separate the areas under Israeli and Syrian control since 1974. His forces later penetrated into several areas and points in the vicinity of that buffer zone.

It also took control of the eastern side of Jabal Al -Sheikh. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that this measure is temporary and of a defensive nature aimed at curbing the potential threats of his country from the Syrian side. But at the same time he indicated that the forces will remain there until Israel will obtain security guarantees on the border.
