After the release of 6 hostages from Gaza .. Israel delays the release of Palestinian prisoners

Today, Israel delayed the release of hundreds of Palestinian detainees after the release of 6 Israeli hostages in Gaza, according to Israeli officials.

It was expected that 602 Palestinian detainees will be released in exchange for the six hostages, but Israeli officials confirmed that this will not happen until after security consultations that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will hold later today, Saturday.

An Israeli official who did not reveal his identity told AFP that once these consultations are completed, a decision will be taken on the coming stages of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas. Nevertheless, no clear reason was provided to delay the release of Palestinian detainees.

Israel had released 6 Israelis, some of them carrying double nationalities, as part of the first stage of the armistice, while the Palestinian Prisoner Club announced that 602 Palestinian detainees will be released, including 50 sentences of life imprisonment. 108 of these detainees are scheduled to be removed outside the Palestinian territories.
