It is something that Israel will do in Lebanon that may ignite the war again … a report that speaks

Israeli media revealed today, Tuesday, that the Israeli army will not withdraw from 5 to 7 strategic locations in southern Lebanon, under the pretext of ensuring the security of the population of northern Israel amid continuous tensions on the border.

This comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked, during his meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House, last week, to postpone the withdrawal of the Israeli army from southern Lebanon for “several additional weeks.”

According to the Israeli channel 12, Israel provided “evidence” to the American side stating that the Lebanese army “does not impose effective restrictions on Hezbollah’s movements,” which may allow party fighters to return to the border areas quickly.

It is estimated in Israel that Washington has agreed to extend the period of Israeli military presence to prevent Hezbollah’s influence in the border areas, in light of the fears of the ceasefire agreement.

An Israeli report stated that the American administration informed Israel that the Israeli army’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon should be completed by February 18, the deadline that was previously extended within the ceasefire agreement.

However, Israel is still negotiating with the American side in an attempt to obtain “better” consequences and results on the situation in southern Lebanon after withdrawing.

Washington estimates that the Lebanese army has spread enough in the border areas, and it is expected to complete its deployment completely by the specified date. Meanwhile, the Israeli army is expected to continue to withdraw from additional areas in southern Lebanon in the coming days.

In response to the report, the US National Security Council spokesman said that “Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon is still in accordance with the specified timetable,” and claimed that the Benjamin Netanyahu government “did not ask for any extension” of the withdrawal process from southern Lebanon.

Earlier, the Lebanese army continued its deployment in several towns in the south of the country, after the Israeli army withdrew from them. (Russia today)
