Libya .. a criminal lawsuit against an official in the Coast Guard

The Libyan Public Prosecution announced that a criminal lawsuit against the Coast Guard branch official in Zuwara was imprisoned, and that four members of the agency were imprisoned for planning to transfer illegal immigrants to the northern Mediterranean.

According to a statement issued by the Public Prosecutor’s office on his Facebook page, the prosecutor conducted an investigation into the accident of a member of the Criminal Investigation Department branch with a live bullet during the arrest of four people involved in organizing illegal immigration operations off the coast of the city of Zuwara.

Investigations revealed that some elements of the Coast Guard branch are complicit to transporting 37 illegal immigrants across the sea to the north of the Mediterranean, and they fired bullets towards the members of the Criminal Investigation Service to prevent them from thwarting their plan.

The statement added that “after the interrogation of the four defendants, the investigator ordered that they be imprisoned as a precaution pending the investigation, and issued directives to arrest the security and military agencies involved in this activity.” Action was also taken to transfer immigrants to shelters to address their legal conditions.
