Residential loans are under discussion … and an endeavor to reopen “Banking Street” in Beirut!

The Minister of Economy and Trade in the caretaker government, Amin Salam, met in his office in the Ministry, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director General of the Housing Bank, Antoine Habib, where the bank’s projects and ways of enhancing cooperation between him and the Ministry of Economy and Trade were discussed, according to a statement issued by the Habib office.

Habib explained, after the meeting, that “Minister Salam was briefed on the projects of the Housing Bank, especially with regard to obtaining a loan from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, in addition to our expected visit to Qatar in mid -February, in an effort to secure a residential loan for those with low and medium income.” .

He added: “We also discussed during the meeting, the proposal to reopen the ‘Al -Masarfa Street’ in downtown Beirut, as it is open at its upper and lower ends, while the middle part is still closed. The Minister briefed us on the results of our tour of the relevant activities to support this proposal, especially since the Ministry of Economy and Trade has rented through the Bank of Lebanon a building in this street.

Habib stressed that “Minister Salam expressed his full support for this initiative, stressing his intention to transfer the proposal to the competent authorities in preparation for the reopening of the banking street, and thus facilitating the interdependence between the streets of Beirut. Noting that the aforementioned street connects Al Nabi Street with Vigan Street, to Riad El Solh Street, which makes it a vital, unjustified axis to continue to close it.
