The Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firas Al -Abyad, presented the stages implemented from the project to support the dialysis departments with devices and equipment and the opening of new departments in twenty government hospitals, funded by a loan from the World Bank worth two million and one hundred and seventy -eight thousand dollars ($ 2178,000) in a press conference held in the Ministry of Public Health The actress of the World Bank was attended by Mrs. Farah Isfahani, in addition to managers and heads of government hospital hospitals.

The White Minister started the conference by referring to the suffering faced by dialysis patients during the last period, especially in some and not all private hospitals, where additional money was received from patients. There was also a problem with the number of beds ready for dialysis patients.

He said: The ministry considers these patients a special condition because they suffer from chronic disease throughout their lives and often prevent them from productivity and participation in public life. Therefore, the constant concern was to secure the ease of obtaining a dialysis service and ensuring its continuity.

He continued: that part of the national health strategy launched by the Ministry in January 2023 aim to enhance the role of government hospitals, which proved to be the first line of defense alongside the citizen in the various health crises that Lebanon has witnessed in recent years of the economic crisis and Corona to the explosion of the port, cholera and the Israeli aggression On Lebanon, therefore, the aim of the dialysis project was part of a larger World Bank to support health in Lebanon, to achieve two things: the service of our sick people who need dialysis and enhance the role of government hospitals.

Then the White Minister dealt with detailing the project as follows:

Securing 138 dialysis devices on 20 government hospitals. (70 devices have been delivered and started using them, and the rest will be delivered in the coming period)

– Supporting 12 dialysis divisions in government hospitals by renewing devices and increasing the number of beds.

Equip 8 new sections for dialysis in a number of other hospitals will be opened in succession.

This included government hospitals in Beirut, Matn, South, Bekaa, North and Akkar.

He continued, pointing out that we are about to start with a new era and a new government. We still have the difficult circumstances that the country has gone through and the Ministry of Public Health from three years until today, which reflected on dialysis patients whose stops are remembered to demand access to medical service. He said: The aforementioned project provides them with the continuity of this service.

He pointed out that government hospitals and amidst the extremely difficult circumstances sought to play a very large role, despite the scarcity of resources, as workers were fulfilling their duty to the side of the patient. The Minister of Public Health considered that it is important for everyone to continue, especially in the next ministry, in the policy of strengthening government hospitals, thanking the values ​​of these government hospitals and members of all their efforts because they picked up Kiryat from embers, yet they persisted to find solutions for the benefit of patients.

He concluded, expressing his satisfaction to reach the goal of achieving the best health for our people and our society.
