Lebanon today »Mexico and Canada are heard on Trump’s sanctions

After US President Donald Trump imposed customs duties on the United States’ major commercial partners, Canada, Mexico and China, with a lower percentage on Canadian energy imports, Mexico President Claudia Shinbum announced on Saturday that customs duties were imposed on the United States, in response to those announced by Trump.

In a post on the “X” platform, it denounced the accusation of US President Donald Trump for her government to be linked to drug smuggling, describing this as “slander.”

She wrote: “We categorically reject the White House slander, which accuses the Mexican government of establishing alliances with criminal organizations,” declaring “customs procedures” against Washington.

In the same context, outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed that his country will impose customs duties on the United States as of Tuesday, in response to Trump’s measures.

Trudeau said immediate customs duties will be imposed on American goods worth 30 billion Canadian dollars, and additional customs fees on US goods worth $ 125 billion in 21 days.

He continued: “We are studying several non -customs procedures in response to Washington, including some measures related to biomedics, energy purchases and other partnerships,” stressing that “Canada and Mexico are working together to face American customs duties.”

He also urged Canadians to buy Canadian products and consider spending their holidays in Canada. (Sky News)
