At the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, Israel was forced to summon the reserve force in the army, increased military spending, as well as after the conflict extended to several fronts.

Thousands of people were killed and wounded

Economy losses

Since the beginning of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, economists in Israel and the world have warned of the huge losses to the Israeli economy, due to the cost of the high war that lasted about 15 months.

Last December, the Israeli Economic Calist newspaper said that the cost of the war until mid -January reached 150 billion shekels (about 42 billion dollars), with an average of 300 million shekels (84 million dollars) per day.

In January 2024, the governor of the Bank of Israel, Ezeki Baruch, warned of the exorbitant cost of the war, and said that the period between 2023 and 2025 would witness a loss of about $ 255 billion.

And the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics revealed last month a decrease of 1.4% of the Israeli GDP in the second quarter of last year, compared to the same time in 2023.

Also, the statistical office revealed the decrease in the operating rate in Israel, clearly compared to other global economies, due to the absence of a large number of men and women from the labor market, bringing the operation to its lowest level.

The Aaron Institute for Israeli Economic Studies expected that the deficit in the Israeli economy would rise to 11.3% this year, and a debt rate to GDP by 82.5%, making the economic recovery slower in 2025.

Last September, Moody’s reduced the credit rating of Israel with two degrees to “BAA1”, which is the lowest level ever, due to the war and geopolitical risks that threaten Tel Aviv, according to the “The Marker” website.

The Institute of Israeli National Security Studies revealed the official figures related to the Israeli army that fought the Gaza Strip war, the other parallel war with Lebanon and the Iranian arms, and the direct conflict with Tehran, from October 7, 2023 until now.
