Prime Minister-designate Nawaf Salam ended the first day of non-binding parliamentary consultations.

Salam met with representatives of the Phalange bloc in the second round of parliamentary consultations today.

Phalanx

Phalange Party leader MP Sami Gemayel said: “We hope that the next government will be a government of competencies.”

Gemayel added that what matters to us is facilitating the task of the President of the Republic and facilitating the formation of the government.

He continued: We leave the form of the government to President Aoun and President-designate Nawaf Salam.

Gemayel explained that when we talk about partnership, we must talk about equality.

Armenian representatives

Representative Hagop Pakradounian said, “We are facing a stage of optimism about the return of the state and institutions and the implementation of the reforms that the Lebanese aspire to.”

Pakradounian called for the formation of an inclusive government, emphasizing the need to take into account the constitution, Taif, and correct representation.

He added: We are fully prepared to participate in the government, and we are a bloc, but there is sectarian representation, and the President knows the constitution more than anyone else, and the Armenian community will be represented in the government.

Pakradounian continued: We are still in the strong Lebanon bloc.

Representative Adnan Trabelsi called for the formation of an inclusive government without haste.

Trabelsi said: We assured His Excellency the President that the Taif Agreement is the means to overcome all obstacles that may obstruct the course of political life in the country.

For his part, Representative Faisal Karami called for not to isolate anyone or break anyone, and said: We are protected only by the tent of the Lebanese state and the constitution.

He continued: We are with a political government that may be vaccinated, and we have the right, as a bloc that includes 5 representatives, to be represented by a portfolio and to be participants in the executive authority.

Representative Michel Moawad said that the government must be built on foundations and principles, and its mission is to stop war, occupation, and destruction, implement a ceasefire, limit weapons to the state, control borders, and carry out reforms.

Moawad added: We hope that the government will include the largest number of political blocs.

He stressed that the presence of the duo Hezbollah and Amal in the opposition cannot mean the exclusion of the Shiite community.
