Ahmed Al-Sharaa meets with the foreign ministers of France and Germany in the first high-level Western meeting after the change in Syria

The leader of the new administration in Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa, met with the foreign ministers of France and Germany, Jean-Noel Barrot and Annalena Baerbock, at the presidential palace in Damascus, according to footage broadcast by Agence France-Presse.

The footage showed the leader of the new administration, at the center of French Minister Jean-Noel Barrot and German Minister Annalena Baerbock, in the first meeting at this level that Al-Sharaa held with Western officials since a coalition of opposition factions led by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, which he leads, overthrew President Bashar al-Assad on December 8, 2024.
