Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri confirmed that “the session to elect the President of the Republic is ongoing and open in successive sessions.”
Berri said in an interview with An-Nahar: “The 128 representatives must assume their responsibilities and elect the president.”
He added: “There is a determination to elect the president in Thursday’s session or in the following days. Election sessions do not stop except during Friday prayers or Sunday Mass.”
