Small plane crash in Australia

Three people were missing and three others were seriously injured after a plane crashed off an Australian tourist island, officials said on Wednesday.

Only one person out of 7 people on board the Cessna 208 Caravan plane was rescued without injuries.

The plane crashed while taking off from Rottnest Island on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

A video clip showed that the plane stumbled on takeoff, before staggering and falling into the water from a low altitude.

The plane, owned by Swan River Seaplanes, was on its way back to its base in Perth, the capital of Western Australia, which is 30 kilometers east of Rottnest Island.

The Australian Transport Safety Investigation Bureau, which investigates air accidents, said specialist investigators would be sent to the scene.
