According to the association’s statement, this partnership depends on the long-term cooperation between the sovereign organization of Malta and the Lebanese state, which strengthens the framework of coexistence and cooperation to serve the most needy groups, in addition to the long-term relationship between the Lebanese Order of Malta and the Lebanese army, built on mutual respect and a shared commitment to serving the people. This initiative brings together the Lebanese Army, the Military Technical Committee for Lebanon (MTC4L) and the Malta Lebanon Organization, which is present throughout the Lebanese territories, and manages a network of more than 60 projects in the fields of health care, social care and agriculture to support the most needy communities.
The statement stated that MTC4L is an Italian-led international initiative with a dual goal: firstly, to support the Lebanese army, and secondly, to support the Lebanese population more than ever before through humanitarian donations. The committee complies with and respects all the resolutions of the United Nations and the bilateral and international missions currently present on Lebanese territory. It currently consists of 8 partner countries: Italy, the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. Joint committees will oversee planning and implementation to ensure compatibility with national and community priorities. This memorandum of understanding emphasizes the complementarity between civil and military cooperation in line with the Malta organization’s humanitarian mission, which is to help communities most in need.
