An urgent warning from the Lebanese Real Estate Authority.. This is what it includes

The Lebanese Real Estate Authority stressed in a statement today, Saturday, the necessity of accelerating the removal of rubble and debris and treating them according to sound environmental frameworks, in order to ensure the health of citizens and public safety.

The Authority warned of the repercussions of not removing the rubble, as it may result in emissions of toxic gases such as methane and asbestos, and the mold that emerges as a result of the decomposition of household materials and other organisms due to rainwater seeping between the rubble and the collapsed buildings, and what those rains may cause in terms of washing away dust, sand, and torrential torrents of materials. Solid water, which exacerbates the problem of blockage of drains and water drainage filters and its overturning of buildings and neighboring neighborhoods.

She stated that it is not possible to focus only on the damaged and demolished areas and the surrounding buildings, as there are areas that need technical and engineering inspection and an evaluation of the condition of their concrete and foundations due to the lack of maintenance due to the antiquity, old rents, climate change and economic conditions.

She called on citizens to inspect their buildings near the destroyed areas by experts and engineers for early detection of the condition of the buildings before distortions or cracks that may be dangerous are hidden.
