Civil Defense put out a fire inside a warehouse in Wadi Khaled… and recovered the body of a worker


The General Directorate of Civil Defense announced in a statement that its operations room received a call at ten minutes past nine yesterday evening, Thursday, stating that a fire had broken out inside a fuel distribution station on the Al-Muqabila – Wadi Khaled main road.

It indicated that its teams set off immediately, reinforced with machinery and equipment from several centers, to the site of the fire, and it turned out that the fire had caught in the first basement floor under the station, which is used as a warehouse to store oils, fuels, carburetor, and tanks for petroleum derivatives.

She reported that the personnel faced great challenges in controlling the fire, given the nature of the highly flammable materials, in addition to the expansive area of ​​the warehouse, estimated at approximately 700 square metres. She said: After intense efforts, the personnel were able to extinguish the fire and recover the body of a worker from inside the warehouse. It also succeeded in preventing the fire from spreading to the shops and the residential apartment above the station.

She concluded: During the rescue operations, a second worker was found who had been rushed out of the warehouse by the blast of the tank explosion. He was taken to the hospital, where his condition was described as stable.
